Our mission is to provide comfort gifts, activities, and necessities to children and their families when hospitalized.
Our staff is made up of volunteers from Nurses to Grandmas who have a passion for helping the kids and families of our community.
Prizes for Pokes was founded in 2020 when our founders Grandson Knox was diagnosed with Leukemia. Every time Knox would have to get a "Poke" or procedure done, the nurses would let him pick a poke prize for being brave. He always wanted Legos, but the prize bin was usually out of Legos. In the fall of 2022, Unique Models & Talent held their first Gala benefitting PRIZES FOR POKES. All of the proceeds went to Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital, and trunk loads of prizes were purchased and donated to the hospital for the program. At that time, there wasn't a delegated program for Prizes for Pokes. Our founder saw the need. We now provide poke prizes, comfort, sensory, and necessity gifts to children and their families when hospitalized. We donate everything from prizes for being brave, to sensory and activity gifts, to providing parents with a free cell charger and or toiletry kit while waiting in the emergency room, to preemie gifts and needs to young parents of NICU babies who may not have the resources to welcome home their new baby.
Our mission at Prizes for Pokes is to provide poke prizes, comfort, sensory, Activity, and necessity gifts to children and their families when hospitalized. Being in the hospital is hard. Our mission is to ease the pain and worry while there.
